Conductor - Huw Cole MMus (Bristol), MMus (Cardiff), BMus.
Huw joined the band in 2003 and has had a number of successes with the band's two consecutive qualifications to the National Finals in Harrogate, Fifth place at the National finals in 2006, promotion to the Third Section for 2009, and a further qualification to the 2010 national finals in the third section.
Huw has been involved in brass music since he decided to play an instrument at the age of 11. He soon discovered an interest in composition and wrote seven brass band pieces and two 'symphonies' before receiving a scholarship to Charterhouse School in 1990 at the age of 14.
Huw studied at Cardiff and Bristol University where he developed his interests in conducting, composition, and playing. Huw has played with many bands including Blaina and Thornbury and several orchestras including the Cardiff Philharmonic and the South Bank Symphony Orchestra. Huw's compositions have been performed by the BBC, the RPO and the Cory's Band amongst others. More information can be found at www.huwcole.com
